Elasticat

This is an amazing story of a cat that really had nine lives.

Hello, my name is Kugo. That’s pronounced, koo go. I am a young cat, currently living in a hollow structure humans call, a ‘house’. I Live in my house with my sister, Firmi and a very nice human. My human gives me food, pets me, lets me sleep with her, and she even made me my own box to digest in! Life’s pretty good where I live.
One day, as I was comfortably resting on a couch, I realized that I had never been outside my house. At least I don’t think I have. I have forgotten most of my history as a kitten, although I have just entered maturity. “I wonder what’s out there,” I purred silently to myself.
The next day, my question was still bothering me. I decided that I would ask my human if she would take me outside. So I went on her bed and meowed, “Can you take me outside?” She didn’t respond. So I asked her again, and again, and again. Finally, she followed me to the front door. Then I meowed once more, with and extra polite, “Please?" at the end. She just shook her head. She had never done that before. The next day I did the exact same thing, but again she just shook her head. I kept trying until my seventh try, when she never even got out of her bed! This made me mad. Why would a human ignore her best friend? So I started to cook up a plan in my head. By the end of the day, I had it all figured out.
"What a purrfect plan," I thought to myself. I had decided that I would dart outside as my human would be opening the door to leave someplace like a party or something. So later that night, I put my plan to action. Unfortunately, my human left while was napping. So I waited and waited and waited for my human to come back. After awhile, I finally heard footsteps, then the door handle clicking, and FLASH! I sped out into the slowly brightening morning. Then my human started chasing me. But I lost her easily. How strange it was out here. So many trees, plants, birds, and- cats? Right there in front of me was a very mean-looking, giant cat glaring at me with his bright blue eyes. Slowly, He wandered up to me. I suspected that he was a bully. I had never met a bully before, but I have heard stories about them. They don't sound nice. Just then the cat screeched, and started chasing me. Yep. It was a bully. As fast as I could I ran and ran and ran. Then I realized that there was no way that I would be able to outrun that cat. So I decided to climb up the nearest tree. The closest tree to me was a pine. As quickly as possible, I darted up. As I was climbing, I heard some rustling branches behind me. That bully was still after me! So I climbed and climbed. Finally, when I was about sixty feet up, the bully cat retreated. I couldn't believe it. I had made it! What a beautiful view.
After enjoying the view while waiting for the bully to vanish, I decided to climb down. But I couldn't find any branches to step on! After looking for awhile, I still couldn't find a way down. I was stuck! So I started meowing for my human. It was four 'O' Clock and there was no telling when my human would come. For hours and hours I waited. 7:00, 10:00, 11:00, 12:00, 1:00, and finally, at 2:00 I heard human voices at the base of the tree. Then the tree started to shake. My human was climbing up! Five minutes later, she came into site. But wait! That wasn't my human! It wasn't even a she! Was he here to save me or to hurt me? I didn't know, so I guessed. My guess was that he wanted to hurt me, so I got scared. There wasn't any escape! And I didn't want to climb any higher. So I did the only thing left to do. I did the impossible. Three, two, one.....................   JUMP! I whimpered silently as I plummeted down to the earth below. Then I closed my eyes for the last time- I thought. SLAM! I bellyflopped down on the soft grass. For a second, I was stunned. The next second, I dashed away and hid under a bush. I was alive! But I was in serious pain. It was the worst pain I had ever felt. Not on the outside, but on the inside. I had severely bruised my internal organs.
After about two hours under the bush, a human came and gave me some food, which I gladly accepted. After eating a bit, I went and hid under the bush again. Later that day, I saw my human walking up to me. Then she attempted to pick me up, but because of the pain, I squirmed out of her arms. She tried to catch me for about half an hour, until I finally gave in. She took me to her thing with wheels and we sped off. When the thing with wheels stopped, my human took me to another human, who gave me a shot. Then I got sleepy, and I closed my eyes forgetting about the pain. The next thing I saw was my comfortable bed and Firmi. I was still in pain, but very comfortable. After a few days, I started to feel better. And I never, ever want to go outside again. Never ever.

This was all a true story. And Kugo is now living happily ever after.

Kugo literally jumped 60 feet. Please trust me. I'm not exaggerating

Our Cats

As you probably already know, we have kittens, but I haven't posted any thing about them yet.

This is Moxie.
Her full name is Capt. Moxie Mt. McKinley McOrcapuss. Moxie means adventurous. That pretty much describes her. Often, when we're leaving somewhere, Moxie will take the chance and dash out the door.
Moxie is an abnormally small cat, and we think she is part Siamese. Moxie is also very fierce, which comes in handy when she play-fights Twitchy.
Moxie is the one that bonds with me.

This is Twitchy.
Her full name is Sgt. Twitchy Tiger Puka McScruffins. We named Twitchy, Twitchy because when ever we fed her milk from a bottle, she wouldn't stop twitching. She was really cute. She bonds with Cambria. Twitchy is a lot bigger than Moxie. When Twitchy and Moxie play-fight, being big can help her defeat Moxie.

Who would win if Moxie and Twitchy were to battle each other?

Would Moxie's fierceness get the better of Twitchy?

Or would Twitchy be able to take down Moxie with ease?

Usually it's a fair match up.

But the majority winner is Moxie.

We did have one other cat. We had to leave her in Oregon because she was very old.

Her name is Anners.

P.S. Sorry about

the golden eye.

A macaw?!

Today was a perfect day. A perfect breeze, a little cloud cover, and sunny skies. It was so perfect that we just had to get out. So while Dada ran, I rode my bike on a route that Dada had memorized. We had just started, and then I started yelling, "Dada! The bird! The big blue one!" We had found a macaw! His feathers were so blue that they looked fake. I am absolutely, positively sure that it was a macaw. It was big, blue, and had long tail feathers. Dada had seen it too so I know that I wasn't just seeing things. It was probably a cage bird that escaped. "A macaw!"

A Trumpeter Swan's Rhyme

High over the mountains we like to fly,
and spy on you with our very sharp eyes.

We like to swim in deep rivers,
our appearance will make you quiver.

In the 20th century you tried to hunt us,
but you ran away we made such a fuss.

On sandy river banks we like to preen.
That's why you always see us so clean.

On small islands we like to nest,
perfect for a long month's rest.

In soft nests we lay our eggs,
in hope that little cygnets will hatch,
grey down, orange beak and legs

Foxes prowl along the bank.
If they get to close we'll give 'em a spank!

If a water snake gets to close, our neck, as long as a hose,
will stick out and bite that sly snakes snout.
He'll start to pout. That snake's crying just 'bout.

At the bottom of deep rivers we find green plants,
when we eat 'em they'll make us dance!

This has been a Trumpeter Swan talking you see,
I have to leave. I have a busy day ahead of me.

Three Owners, One Bird

This story starts out with the Chupps getting a Cockatiel. They named him Buddy. But it wasn't till after they got Buddy that they realized that Mr. Chupp was allergic to him. They would have to give Buddy away. So They decided to ask us. Of course, since I loved birds, I was happy to take Buddy in! My parents thought about it for a while, and finally said, "Yes!" So the Chupps took the cage over to our house with Buddy in it. They told us every thing we needed to know about Buddy and left. We had a great time with Buddy.
                                                           We fed him,
                                                        played with him,
                                                        and slept with him!

But we couldn't keep him forever because we had to pay $500 every time we brought a pet into our house. Thankfully our landlord told us we could keep him for a little while.
"By Buddy!" We all said when Buddy's new owners were driving away. They seemed like good ones. What an adventure buddy had.

Ducks I Will Never Forget

In may of 2010, we hatched our own ducklings!
We bought the eggs from Aloha Feed Store in Oregon. Then we got an incubator to put them in. They stayed in their eggs for about 21 days. But one day, we were coming home from somewhere. As we walked through the door we heard a peeping noise. We looked in the incubator and there was a little baby duckling all wet with a broken egg next to it. It was black with a little patch of yellow on its front. I named this one Oston(As in Boston). It was a female.
The next duck to come out was a brownish-gold one. Kaiah named this one Sunshine. It was a also female.
The next two to come out were blueish-grey with a gold patch on their fronts. One came out all tangled up so I named it Tangled. The other one I named Blueberry. They were both males.
The last one we hatched looked just like Oston except smaller. This one was my favorite. I named it Blackberry. It was a female.

When they were old enough to come out of the incubator, we got a big bin and put sawdust on the bottom. Then we got a water and  food holder for them. After we had those things, we got a heating lamp and put it over the ducks to keep them warm.                                      The ducks ate, drank, played, and slept a lot.
Oston is sharing some food with Sunshine

As the ducks got older and bigger, we decided to give them a pool. After all we needed to give them a pool sometime, 'cause they're ducks!
They loved their pool. We would put the pool out on our sidewalk, take the ducks out of their bin, and carry them to the pool.

                                                     They were really cute!

                                                      We watched them a lot.

But all of this fun had to end someday. They were getting so big and stinky that we had to give them away. My grandparents offered to take care of them because they had lots of land. We agreed. So we loaded all the ducks into the car and left for my grandparent's house. The ducks didn't really like the trip. When they got out of the car they kind of looked a little dizzy. But they were happy to be out of that car.
First they looked at their surroundings. Then they wandered around. They always stayed as a group.

When we left I was pretty sad. But I knew it wasn't over. Every time I went to my grandparent's house I couldn't wait to see the ducks!

Baby Myna Birds

In the month of may, two Myna Birds started building a nest in a palm tree right outside our door! We watched this for awhile, and though we didn't notice it for awhile, the mother Myna started laying eggs. It wasn't till a long time that the eggs started to hatch. We knew this because we heard incessant peeping (or chip, chip, chip) coming from the nest.
As soon as they were strong enough, they started to peek their little heads over the nest to see
 the world.

Soon, we saw the mother Myna searching for food. She brought back all kinds of stuff like worms, big juicy caterpillars, and some moths. We managed to get a picture of the mother Myna holding two or even three moths in her mouth!

As the baby Myna Birds got bigger they got hungrier. The mother Myna and the dad Myna were working very hard to meet every need of the little baby Myna Birds ( let me just call the parents, Mom and Dad and the baby bird in the middle of the other two, Chippy, and the one two the right, Brownie, and the one to the left, Chocolate).

In this picture, Chippy, Brownie, and Chocolate are about to get fed. Their saying in a high pitched voice, Chip! Chip! Chip! And occasionally, in a low pitched voice, Squack!
                                          They were definitely growing
Mom found a big juicy grub for them

Soon the babies got so big that they had to leave the nest. So Mom taught them how to fly. Soon, they could all fly very well.
One day I was taking out the garbage and I heard a peeping sound coming from a hill. I had been wondering where the babies where. Then I saw them hopping.

Brownie is growing into a very large, strong Myna Bird.
Chocolate is Growing into to a very beautiful Myna Bird.
And chippy, though he was the runt, has successfully made it to adulthood.

THE END...

...I THOUGHT

It's been about three-fourths of a year now and I haven't seen Brownie, Chocolate, or Chippy anywhere. Today I saw them. They were all together, chirping happily in a language only myna birds know.
